A Note from President and CEO

The World in which we live in is constantly changing and the need to adapt and change is even more critical. Rising energy costs propelled by increasing oil prices has adversely impacted transportation costs. The integration of global logistics with worldwide supply chain management will continue in importance. New Green Logistics solutions must be developed. In today's global supply chain management, we are moving information just as surely as we are moving supplies. Companies must be more responsive - more anticipatory - less reactive to inflammatory fluctuations in the global supply chain. Taking data and translating to actionable information is essential. The later part of last century's supply chain management is highlighted by a shift from old brick and mortar local suppliers to a global sources, mostly in China and South East Asia. Under the current smothering blanket of high oil prices, companies must reanalyze their move to global suppliers compared to regional or local suppliers. Just in time inventory may not be as cost effective as it once was based upon the increased transportation costs that will remain in effect for the next decades. A transformation to hybrid vehicles and energy reduced facilities will enable more regional and local suppliers to compete with China. More Green technology is being developed everyday and the companies who make aggressive early steps will be amply rewarded. In the middle part of this century, logistics providers will face extremely complex issues as the shift to Africa for production will expand the global logistics chain. Green Logistics Solutions will be posed to address, respond, and provide companies assistance on reducing logistics waste, adopting energy saving logistics practices, and implementing information technology tracking.
